Mark Cullen

Mark Cullen is a best selling author, and host of Gardening tips with Mark on CTV’s Canada AM as well as The Garden Show on CFRB.   Mark shares his practical advice and helpful hints with Canadians from coast to coast.

 

Art Drysdale

Art is one of Canada’s best-known horticulturalists.  For the past four decades he has been writing, and presenting radio and television broadcasts, with practical garden hints. Art hosts his own gardening program on AM740 Primetime Radio covering most of southern Ontario. In addition, from March to November he is seen regularly with daily gardening tips on Canada’s Weather Network.

 

Cristina da Silva  

Cristina da Silva currently writes the Toronto Star's "Condo gardener" column. Cristina graduated with a BS and MS in horticulture form the University of Guelph. Urban gardens is one of Cristina's passions.  She has worked as a garden designer and garden writer in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, San Francisco (California) and Sydney (Australia).

 

Shauna Dobbie

Shauna Dobbie grew up in Winnipeg and is editor of Ontario Gardener Living magazine, Canadian Trees and Beautiful Communities, a magazine for community beautification and improvement volunteers. Shauna is also the founding president of the charitable organization Schools in Bloom. 

She was chair of the Communities in Bloom-Ontario board for 2006, and a member of the WinterLights committee of the national Communities in Bloom organization. She has volunteered as a judge for all these groups.

Frank Ferragine 

Frank “Frankie Flowers” is currently the morning weatherman on Citytv's morning show Breakfast Television.

A flower expert, Ferragine's family runs Bradford Greenhouses and board of director of Landscape Ontario. He has also been host at the Alliston Garden Tour "What's New in Horticulture" and "Get Growing" on Barrie, Ontario radio station CKBB.

 

Denis Flanagan 

Denis graduated in horticulture and landscape design from Merrist Wood College in Surrey , England. He then spent several years with Hydon Nurseries specializing in rhododendrons. His efforts helped to secure a gold medal display at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in London . Upon moving to Canada , Denis joined Weall and Cullen as a landscape designer. With a wealth of knowledge and a keen sense of humour, Denis is a regular guest expert on television shows such as Sue Warden Craftscapes and the former Dini. He is also the host for HGTV/Life Network TV Show “The Indoor Gardener”.  

 

Belinda Gallagher

Belinda is an avid grower of rare, unusual, native and the more common (but rarely grown) perennial plants, as well as vines, grasses, shrubs, trees and fungus.  Gardening in in Halton Hills.In 1998 she officially opened triffids plants.

She has spent many years with Master Gardeners of Ontario (Halton Region group), is a Landscape Ontario instructor and Co-editor of the Ontario Rock Garden Society ‘Journal’.  She can be seen occasionally on THE WEATHER NETWORK in the gardening season and is serving on the Board of Directors of the Royal Botanical Garden in Burlington/Hamilton.

 

Frank Kershaw 

Have you ever wondered which shrubs would be perfect for your home setting? Frank Kershaw knows and he was happy to let you in on his secret. Frank will also let us know how to make a good garden into a garden art just by using a few interesting pieces and accessories.

 

Ed Lawrence 

Ed Lawrence is the highly popular and award-winning gardening expert on CBC radio’s Monday noon phone-in. He is well respected in the field of horticulture for his down-to-earth, practical advice and environmentally friendly solutions to gardening problems. Ed has two college degrees from Humber College, one as a landscape technician, and one in landscape technology. 

Marcia Lenglet

Marcia Lenglet has been practicing flower arranging in the tradition of the Misho School for 25 years. Misho is a classical school named after its founder Mishosai Ippo. Misho, the founder's name, means "a stored power arising to bring movement just before birth (or rebirth)."  In a classical Misho arrangement, three lines move around a single point, suggesting contained power moving towards release.

Celia Roberts Vanderjagt

Celia has a certificate in horticulture and is an accredited floral design judge with Garden Clubs of Ontario. She is a district director of the Ontario Horticultural Association, an active member of Oakville Horticultural Society and Cloverleaf Garden Club of Mississauga.

 

Belinda Gallagher

Belinda is an accredited horticulture and floral design judge, serves on the board of Royal Botanical Gardens, and is a Master Gardener with the Halton Regional Master Gardeners. She is also a well-known speaker to many horticultural clubs and garden shows.  She is a member of the Georgetown Horticultural Society.

Heinke Zemancik 

Heinke owns and operates Perennial Pleasures Landscape Design, and is an accredited horticultural judge with Royal Botanical Gardens. She is well known as a speaker to many horticultural societies in the area and is a member of Credit Valley Horticultural Society.

 

Ursula Eley

Ursula became interested in floral design about 10 years ago and floral design and gardening are now a passion. She is an accredited design judge with Garden Clubs of Ontario. At present Ursula belongs to 7 horticultural societies including specialty garden clubs such as the Orchid Society and Bonsai Society, and is President of the Beach Garden Society.

 

Lillie Haworth

Lillie is an accredited horticultural and design judge through the Garden Clubs of Ontario and Royal Botanical Gardens, where she is also an instructor in floral design and a volunteer with the RBG Auxiliary. She is a lecturer and presenter of floral design and flower show practices. Lillie is a member of the Grimsby Garden Club and past president of Garden Clubs of Ontario.  She is also a member of many specialty societies, including the Lily Society and the Rhododendron Society.

 

Marguerite Husband

Marguerite joins us today from Owen Sound. It was after moving to this area that she began showing an interest in gardening and floral design.  She is an accredited design judge with the Garden Clubs of Ontario.Marguerite is a flower show exhibitor and a member of Flower Show Committees, the most recent being the Garden Clubs of Ontario's Triennial Flower Show the "Big Picture" at the Royal Botanical Gardens last October. She is currently a member of the Georgian Bay Garden Club and the Markdale Horticultural Society.

 

These demonstrations will take place on the Artist’s Gallery Stage in Hall 3.
